Sonoraville High's Morgan Allen (seated, third from left) signed a scholarship to play softball at West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday.

Allen, a standout shortstop for the Lady Phoenix said of signing the scholarship, "I've always wanted to play college softball, and after I visited a few places, I knew West Virginia Wesleyan was where I wanted to be. It's kind of a small town like Calhoun, and I really like the coaches there."

Also attending the signing were: brother Jay Allen (front row, from left), mother Shelley Allen, father Kirk Allen, brother Aaron Allen, travel coach Kip Connally, Sonoraville High Principal Bruce Potts, grandfather Bill Towers, grandmother Mary Nell Towers, assistant coach Sara Little, head coach Chad Hayes, assistant coach Candace Respress, grandmother Rickie Allen, grandfather Claude Allen and Athletic Director Brent Mashburn.
