A native of Gordon County, Richard was born on October 10th, 1938, the son of the late Walter Samuel Talley and the late Mattie Alice Ridley Talley. He attended Oostanaula School and was of the Baptist faith. Richard was a long time resident of Rome. For several years Richard was in the Poultry business and for a period of time was associated with Talley Brothers Funeral Home. Richard enjoyed attending flea markets, where he met a world of friends. Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Talley.
Richard is survived by his wife, Edna Talley; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Marty Pendergrass of Dalton; a son and daughter-in-law, Brant and Connie Talley of Resaca; grandchildren, Jason Pendergrass and his wife, Brittney, Amy Massengill and her husband, Kyle, Nathan Pendergrass, Matthew and Sara Talley; a brother, Fred Talley of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Richard were held on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley’s Funeral Home with Brother Michael Shane Clements officiating. Interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons, Richard’s son-in-law, Marty and Malcolm Talley served as pallbearers.
Richard remained at the funeral home where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening from 6-8 p.m.
