Frances was born on July 10, 1928 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Celia Sloan Chitwood. She was a member of the Resaca Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: her husband, Howard Thomas of Calhoun; one son, Donnie Thomas and his wife Julie of Resaca; three granddaughters: Darla McEntyre and her husband Stan of Calhoun, Lyndsey Thomas and Sydney Thomas; two great-grandchildren: Marah McEntyre and Andrew McEntyre; one brother, Barnett Chitwood of Dalton; two sisters: Dixie Stanley of Resaca and Doris Bowman of Dalton also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 20 from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Minister Frank Mills officiating. Burial followed in Chandler Cemetery.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
Granddaughters served as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends on Saturday, October 20 from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
