According to Hicks, there been a great turnout of voters so far, reporting no technical difficulties and the process is running smoothly.
Of the more than 24,000 registered active voters in Gordon County, more than 2,200 residents have voted early, as of press time Tuesday.
Hicks says she expects a high turnout this election.
Early voters not available to vote during the week may do so this Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Elections office, located in the Gordon County Annex building at 101 S. Piedmont Street in Calhoun.
This is the first and only opportunity for Saturday voting, and all other ballots cast during the week should also do so at the Elections office.
Voters should remember to bring one of six forms of identification to the polls when coming to vote.
Any valid state or federal government issued photo identification, including a Free Voter ID card issued by your county registrar’s office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS); a Georgia drivers license, even if expired; Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state; Valid U.S. passport ID; Valid U.S. military photo ID; or a Valid tribal photo ID.
Sample ballots were printed in the Calhoun Times Wednesday, October 17, 2012 edition, online at www.calhountimes.com, on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ga.gov/MVP, and in the Elections office.
