The Calhoun City Fire Department helped educate Calhoun Primary students on the importance of fire safety.

Over a two day span, firefighters were able to meet with each class to go over fire safety rules, the importance of an escape plan, and lifesaving information in case a fire were to happen at home or school.

After the lesson, students were allowed to see all the parts of a real fire truck; they even got to hear the loud siren.

The fire department travels around the district instructing students on the proper procedures for handling fire emergencies.

One of the most important steps in fire prevention is having an understanding of what causes fires.

Residents and children are encouraged to avoid playing with matches, leaving the stove unattended and carefully monitoring appliances like shape heaters.

These tips can make a difference in the event of a fire.
