Several former local football stars from Calhoun, Gordon Central and Sonoraville have moved on to play at the college level. Each week, the Calhoun Times will recap how those former local players did in their respective games. Listed below are the players that appeared in the box score from their teams’ games in Week 7 of the college season:

Nash Nance, Hampden-Sydney, Calhoun alum

Nance was 24-of-33 through the air for 277 yards and three TDs in the Tigers’ 47-17 win over Emory and Henry on Saturday. He also had a 21-yard punt.

Josh White, Shorter, Calhoun alum

White had a solo tackle in the Hawks’ 37-7 win over Ave Maria last Saturday at Barron Stadium in Rome.

Mason Strickland, Shorter, Calhoun alum

Strickland didn’t record a tackle, but had an interception in Shorter’s big win over Ave Maria on Saturday.

Tyler Thacker, University of the Cumberlands,

Sonoraville alum

Thacker, the starting center for the Patriots, helped Cumberlands run for 343 yards as a team in their 41-35 loss to Georgetown College.

NOTE: If we left out a former local player that made an impact for his team this past Saturday, please send that player’s name, school, year and position to Sports Editor Alex Farrer at afarrer@calhountimes.com.
