Donnie Fritts, known throughout the community as “the man without a face,” has recently begun filming documenting his newest venture to have corrective surgery on his face.

Fresh from a return from Bethesda, Maryland, Donnie Fritts and wife Sharon were seen by a team of doctors, who have worked with Donnie in the past.

“Donnie was rebuilt in 2009 by a Maryland Team of doctors, Dr. Michael Singer, Dr. Craig Dufresne and Dr. David Ross along with ex-CIA Disguise Specialist - Anaplastologist Mr. Robert Barron of V.A.,” according to Sharon Fritts.

Shortly afterwards, Donnie’s surgery began to fall apart, and after being interviewed on the NBC’s the Today Show, in July 2010, Donnie’s top lip came completely apart, less than one year after its construction in 2009. By December 2010, the entire reconstruction had failed.

“In June of 2011 Donnie was diagnosed with Pseudemonis and several other infections of the face and head. He was hospitalized at Gordon hospital for two weeks and treated by Dr. Cynthia Brown. He had a round of treatments in the hyperbaric chamber,” according to Sharon, who says it was a very scary time for both of them.

Donnie and Sharon will venture to Washington D.C. on Nov. 7, with camera’s rolling, as doctors attempt to replace the implants rejected once before.

“I’m as happy as I can be with the knowledge that I am going to be cut open again, with the risk of infections or failure once again,” said Donnie.

The documentary is scheduled to air in February 2013, and though the media company has asked to be left unnamed at the moment, they recently provided a dinner party in honor of the start of the reconstruction process.

Many of the Fritts’ old friends attended the preconstruction party and some were interviewed by the cameramen for the documentary.

Donnie and Sharon want to thank the Calhoun community for the continued prayers and encouragement.
