Gordon County rivals Sonoraville Middle and Ashworth Middle were the main event on Friday night as both county high school teams were off. The two met on the gridiron under the lights at Sonoraville, and the game didn't disappoint.

The Phoenix came away with a hard-fought victory, 14-6, in overtime. Sean Hickey scored both touchdowns for Sonoraville, and Ashworth's lone TD of the game came on a 76-yard catch by Tijai Whatley from Tim McQueen late in the fourth quarter to tie it.

Nathan Holbert, Stone Logan and Sherrod Agee each had interceptions for the Phoenix, who finished the regular season at 4-2.
