Sonoraville Middle School students in Mr. Haney’s eighth grade science class recently studied about matter in motion.

As a culminating activity, students created a house from a deck of cards. Students tried to build a house with a solid foundation to protect from any unbalanced forces (wind, trembling hands, etc.) that could knock over their house.

Students made adjustments but some could not withstand the forces of other students acting as the wind and blowing down their structures.

Students got to see balanced and unbalanced forces at work.

The ladies and gentlemen in Mr. Haney’s class proved to be queens and kings in their own house of cards.
