The Calhoun Lady Jackets middle school softball team completed an undefeated season last Thursday by winning the region championship. In the region tournament, the Lady Jackets defeated South Central 15-0, Woodland 12-0 and Sonoraville 11-0.

The team overcame great adversity this season to pull together for the undefeated run after teammate Jessica Raines passed away unexpectedly in late August. The team, led by coach Tony Lindsey, made it their goal this season to honor Raines' memory on and off the field.

Team members pictured above are: Torri Gaddis (front row, from left), Victoria Roper, Sydnie Swantic, Maddie Bumgardner, Anna Taylor, Ashlyn Thornton (second row, from left), Cassie Henderson, Ashlyn Barnes, Leah Prather, Brooklyn Towe, Azlin Cleveland, Ryan Brzozoski, Bailey Wehunt, Jana Johns, Kinsey Boswell, coach Tony Lindsey (back row, from left), coach Scotty Gaddis, Alexis Nalley, Chloe Rice, Allie Jones, Alaina Reece, Audrea Wilbanks, Tyra Brown and coach Tonya Prather.
