Voter registration in Gordon County is scheduled to end Tuesday, Oct. 9. in order to participate in the Nov. 6 General Election, according to Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Director Shea Hicks.

Gordon County residents can go to the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office to register to vote, located at 101 S. Piedmont Street, in Calhoun and office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Residents who may be unsure about their registration status can visit the Secretary of State’s website at sos.georgia.gov and click on My Voter Page to find out if they are already registered, where their voting precinct is located and get a copy of their “sample ballot” for the November 6 General Election, according to Hicks. To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of Georgia and the city and county in which you wish to vote, and at least 17 and a half to register and 18 to vote.

Those serving any sentence due to the conviction of a felony or judicially determined to be mentally incompetent may not register.

Additionally, Georgia does not register by political party, according to Hicks. If you have recently changed residences or if you have changed your name please make sure that you complete a voter registration application and return it to the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office by October 9 so that your voter registration information can be updated.

Voter registration applications can be downloaded from the Secretary of State’s website and mailed to the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office.

For more information, contact the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-629-7781.

Do public Chief Short Cakes care that taking time off between 8:30 am to 5 pm is difficult for those employed?

Examples - voter registration, utility payments nearly out of Gordon County or any public agency interaction.
