UPDATE: Police identify man killed in Friday morning motorcycle accident on Victory Drive

Calhoun Police report that a Friday morning motorcycle wreck resulted in the death of a Calhoun man.

Police Chief Garry Moss identified the man as Charles W. James, 25, of Calhoun. Moss said Calhoun Police are continuing to investigate the early morning accident that resulted in James' death.

According to police reports:

At 7:35 am, Calhoun Police were dispatched to Victory Drive. in reference to a single vehicle accident. Officers arrived on the scene at 7:37 am and discovered James lying near the roadway. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was riding his Aprilia Motorcycle southbound on Victory Dr. when for unknown reasons the motorcycle left the roadway and ejected the rider.

The victim and his motorcycle struck a small retaining wall and subsequently came to rest after striking a utility pole.

Gordon EMS responded to provide emergency medical treatment, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“We will continue our investigation into this matter in an effort to uncover a more definitive answer as to the cause of this accident, Moss said.

The man that died was a wonderful, considerate man. He was a fantastic father. Try to be a little bit RESPECTFUL. RIP C. You will be forever missed.
