Prep Football: Calhoun, Gordon Central open region with wins; Sonoraville falls to Coahulla Creek

The three local teams each opened their region schedule on Friday night, with Gordon Central and Sonoraville each playing their first games in Region 5-AAA and Calhoun opening up the 7-AA schedule looking for the 12th straight region title.

The Jackets traveled to Dade County and won 50-13, Gordon Central held off a late rally from Ringgold to win 27-26 at Ratner Stadium and Sonoraville couldn't hang with Coahulla Creek as they fell 26-14 on Homecoming night.
