The Lydia Circle (Women’s Group) of Calhoun First Presbyterian Church, sponsors the semi-annual Little Lambs Children’s Consignment Sale.

The proceeds from the Spring/Summer 2012 sale were used to purchase back to school shoes for children.

In addition to the shoe donation, checks have been presented to the Calhoun City School System, Gordon Central and Sonoraville High Schools for their advocate programs, and food for the Back Pack Buddy Program at Belwood Elementary.

The Little Lambs sales provide a market for consignors and an opportunity for buyers to purchase quality items at very reasonable prices. Lydia Circle’s community service doesn’t end there.

The proceeds from the sales goes to mission projects, with 80-90% being used to provide assistance to Calhoun/Gordon County needy and the remaining to missions outside our community.

Other projects supported by Lydia Circle have included donations to Prevent Child Abuse-Gordon County, Voluntary Action Center, adopted children from local school systems for the Christmas Angel Tree program, made Christmas gift bags for all residents at Calhoun Health Care Center, the local Habitat for Humanity, Community Thanksgiving Luncheon and the Pregnancy Center.

In addition to local missions, Lydia Circle sends an annual donation to the Thornwell Presbyterian Children’s Home and chooses one non-local mission to support. In the past they have supported Orphan Aide Liberia, Christian Flights International, Africa Mosquito Netting, Project Haiti, New Orleans Katrina Relief effort, Presbyterian Home for the Elderly and the Rome Ministerial Society Clothes Closet.

Lydia Circle is currently gearing up for its semi-annual Little Lambs sale. Consignors from all over Gordon County and surrounding areas will bring their gently used clothing, toys, furniture and other items for infants and children through pre-teen.

The sale will take place on Friday September 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, September 22, from 8 a.m. to noon.

During the Saturday sale many items will be marked half price. The sale is at Calhoun First Presbyterian Church (CFPC) on Red Bud Road in their Multi-Purpose Building.

“We have been blessed by the overwhelming support of our church and community to make this program a success. In turn, we are able to put the proceeds back into mission projects. Lydia Circle would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of this program and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall and Winter sale”, said Gay Little, president of CFPC’s Lydia Circle.
