The group will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium at HMC, in the Norman D. Burkett Building. Members of the community are invited to attend.
Smith will speak on the stroke risk associated with certain sleep disorders. “Treating the related sleep disorders may help reduce future stroke risk,” said Smith.
Discussion will include general stroke and support information for anyone affected by stroke, including caregivers. Stroke survivors will have an opportunity to share their experiences.
Stroke affects men and women, with women at increased risk after menopause. Each year, approximately 795,000 people suffer from a stroke, with about 610,000 being first- time attacks.
