The regular season of high school football kicked off on Friday night with mixed results for the three local teams.

Calhoun and Gordon Central were both victorious. The Jackets won dramatically on a final-minute touchdown at home to beat Ridgeland 42-35.

Gordon Central rolled over Coosa 35-0 at Ratner Stadium.

Sonoraville didn't fair as well, falling 50-21 to Pickens County at the Inferno.

Gordon Central looked great. Offense was clicking well. The defense looked better than expected.
