New comer Grant Walraven beat incumbent Brian Brannon in the race for the office of Gordon County Clerk of Superior Court Tuesday in the Run-off elections.

Walraven received 2,528 of the vote at 53.13 percent.

Brannon received 2,230 votes at 46.87 percent.

In the race for Gordon County Chief Magistrate Judge, Ricky Silvers will represent on the Republican ticket for the after beating incumbent John Leggett Tuesday.

Silvers won the race with 2,670 of the votes at 56.81 percent over Leggett who received 2,030 of the votes at 43.19 percent.

In the race for the seat of Gordon County Commissioner District Five, Kevin Cunningham took the win over Tom Bledsoe.

Cunningham received 2,382 of the votes at 53.55 percent, leaving Bledsoe behind with only 2,066 of the votes at 46.45 percent.

Cunningham will replace current sitting commissioner Duck Townsend who did not run for reelection on the board.

Walraven, Cunningham, and Silvers will go on to appear on the November, general elections ballot as the Republican candidates for Gordon County.

Though the only office with Democratic opposition is Chief Magistrate Judge, candidates unopposed on the ballot in November must get at least one vote to become officially elected, at which time, they will be sworn into office in Jan. 2013.

According to Gordon County Board of Elections Director Shea Hicks, Tuesday’s three runoffs were the most in one election cycle since 1992 in Gordon County.
