Four local players were named to the Georgia High School Football Daily's All-State Teams in their respective classification.
In Class AA, Calhoun senior quarterback Taylor Lamb and Calhoun senior defensive back Donnell Anthony were each named to the All-State Team at their positions.
On the Class AAA team, a couple of Gordon Central seniors were named to the All-State squad. Tyshaun Clemmons was named an All-State receiver, and teammate LaRons Winston was named as one of the four defensive linemen on the team.
Both Calhoun and Gordon Central are coming off memorable seasons last year in which the Jackets won their first state title since 1952, and Gordon Central made their first state playoff appearance since 2005.
Lamb was the state's leading passer in all classifications last year, and along with this preseason honor, he was also named as one of the 22 finalists for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11 (the top 11 players in the state regardless of classification.)
Lamb committed to South Alabama in June and had offers from several other schools.
Clemmons has also garnered a lot of attention from college scouts going into his senior year.
The Warriors will move into Class AAA this season and compete in Region 5-AAA after spending the past few seasons in Region 7-AA.
Both Calhoun and Gordon Central open the season on Aug. 31 with the Jackets hosting Ridgeland and Gordon Central hosting Coosa.
Sonoraville also opens up at home that night, welcoming Pickens County to the Inferno.
