Deputy District Attorney for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit, Sharon M. Fox, was announced as Assistant District Attorney of the Year for 2012, according to a press release from the Prosecuting Attorney's Council of Georgia (PACGA).

PACGA presented its annual summer conference from July 22-25, 2012 at Jekyll Island, Ga. at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.

Each year during the conference, the District Attorneys’ Association of Georgia presents this award to recognize outstanding leadership and dedication in the field of prosecution.

“We have a tremendous number of outstanding prosecutors in our state and I am honored to receive this distinction,” said Fox.



Fox has been an assistant district attorney for 22 years. She has served as the lead or sole prosecutor in excess of 370 actual trials during her career in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit.

From the year 2000 to 2005, Fox served as the designated prosecutor for child abuse cases in the Bartow County office and she also serves as Chairman of the local Child Fatality Review subcommittee.

“I don’t know a single career prosecutor who works for the money or the possibility of awards,” says Fox. “We have a passion for helping victims and serving our communities. I am blessed to have the opportunity to go to work every day and make a positive difference in someone’s life in what I truly believe is the best job in the world.”

Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney T. Joseph Campbell praised Fox for her commitment to serving the citizens of Georgia as Deputy District Attorney.

“Ms. Fox’s daily service to this office and the public has been exceptional from the beginning with me back in December of 1992,” said Campbell. “She exemplifies what it takes to be a tough, but fair prosecutor with the requisite concern for the victim.”

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia presents its Summer Conference to all prosecutors every July.
