Cyndee Thomas experienced a week behind the scenes at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. at the Biodiversity Academy studying with researchers who are working on real-world environmental problems every day.
The experience according to Mrs. Thomas, was life-changing and she is already using the materials she received in the classroom this semester.
Candice Godfrey and Becky Hulsey traveled to the Key Issues Science Institute in Colorado this summer.
Teachers from all across the United States enjoyed a week full of interactive and engaging lessons.
The Key Issues curriculum walks teachers through lessons that teach students how to identify key environmental issues in their community.
These two teachers were given the opportunity to go geo caching, tour an old gold mine, test the water of a local stream, and hike 13,000 feet above sea level along the Continental Divide.
They would like to thank Dow Chemical for sponsoring their trip, and making it possible for them to take such an awesome journey.
