SAN FRANCISCO - The Giants acquired veteran infielder Marco Scutaro from the Colorado Rockies in a trade for minor league infielder and former Calhoun High star Charlie Culberson on Friday night.

Culberson was hitting .236 with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs in his first year at Triple-A. He made his MLB debut earlier in the year, appearing in six games with the Giants where he hit .136 with one RBI.

Culberson was drafted by the Giants in 2007 with the 51st overall pick of the MLB Draft. He was ranked the Giants No. 6 prospect in the system prior to this season.

Scutaro, who will bolster the infield for the Giants, was hitting .271 with four home runs and 30 RBIs in 95 games for the Rockies.

Scutaro joins his sixth major league team. He made his major league debut with the New York Mets in 2002.
