Another Two State Champions for Gordon Central in Track and Field and a total of 5 Medals were won by Warriors at the Georgia State Games last weekend in Marietta.

Spencer Wilbanks competed in the 3000 meter, 1500 meter and javelin. Wilbanks had a personal best (10:40.98) in the 3000 meter and placed first in the State.

He also competed in the 1500 meter and finished fifth overall with a time of 5:13.40. His third-place javelin throw was a 24.12 meters.

Shelby Wooden was going back to the Georgia State games to defend her first-place javelin title from last year, but this year she placed third overall (22.21 meters) despite improving her throw from last year by about 15 feet. She did continue to improve her throws in the discus, and Wooden placed first with her best throw of this year with a distance of 92’7 making this her second state title.

Austin Adcock competed in the 110M High Hurdles and placed fifth in the race while also placing third in the Javelin with a throw of 20.60 meters.

Wooden and Adcock had both just returned from a Track camp at Florida State University where they had gone earlier in the week with three other track team members from Gordon Central.

A last result from a Warrior was a second-place finish in the Youth Pole Vault by Ashworth athlete Lee Ullman. Ullman, who will be an eighth grader at Ashworth Middle School this year, vaulted 7’7 .
