James was born August 26, 1940 in Lawrenceville, Ga., son of the late John and Lois McGala Phillips.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Phillips of Alabama and Allen Phillips and his wife Cindy of Douglasville. A daughter Jessica Phillips of Calhoun. One brother, Joel Phillips of Luthersville. Three sisters, Betty Taylor of Carrolton, Dee Abernathy and Darlene Baggett both of Dallas. Six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday July 7, at noon at Community Fellowship in Douglasville with Roger Murdock officiating.
