  • Information and Input sought - GCS FY 2013 Comprehensive LEA Improvement Plan (CLIP)

    Gordon County Schools invites its stakeholders to participate in the development and approval

    of the required district FY 2013 CLIP.

    Thursday, July 12, 2012, Gordon County Board of Education Office, Green Room, 205 Warrior Path, Calhoun, GA, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

    The Consolidated LEA Improvement Plan (CLIP) is a written plan updated and submitted

    each year to the Georgia Department of Education (GDOE) which forms the basis for variousstate and federal grant funds the district participates in. The CLIP includes, but is not limited

    to, the following grant programs: Title I, Academic Achievement; Title I, Migrant; Title II-A, Improving Teacher Quality; Title III-A, Limited English Proficiency (LEP); Title IV-A, Safe & Drug Free Schools; Professional Learning; Homeless Education; IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities

    Education Act); CTAE (Career, Technical & Agricultural Education).

    The CLIP contains 31 "Descriptors", or questions, describing how the district will budget funds

    in these grant categories, within the expenditure guidelines of each grant, to address identified

    academic needs. The plan also includes district academic goals required by the GDOE.

    Copies of the FY 2012 CLIP are available for public review at each school office, the BOE office,

    and the Gordon County Schools website, www.gcbe.org .

    The revised FY 2013 CLIP must be submitted to the GDOE by July 29, 2012. For more

  • A Candidate Forum will be held at the Calhoun Civic Auditorium, Today, Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 7 p.m. A panel will ask candidates running for office questions you want answers to. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

  • Animal Rescue League of NWGA needs volunteers to socialize puppies and walk dogs, help on adoption days, and other activities. They also need dog crates to house dogs inside during freezing weather. Dona-tions of towels, blankets, money, etc., are also greatly appreciated.
