Two local entrepreneurs are hoping to fill the entertainment niche opened with the closing of Calhoun's only movie theater.

Other than the Calhoun Bowling Alley and B & B Skating Palace, there is still hope for local family fun. Sally’s Sew Amazing, located at 235 W. Line St., has extended her offer of tailoring and custom made costumes, wedding dresses and more. Sally is introducing sewing parties for all occasions including birthday parties, baby shower parties and even scrapbooking parties for ages eight and up. Sally Stone graduated with a degree in Fashion Design and Pattern Drafting in 1972 and has been sewing up a storm ever since. Along with her loyal local customers, Stone has been creating costumes for customers far and wide, including for Busch Gardens and for musicals in New York. Sally’s Creative Parties offers Gordon County a chance to explore their creative side with all needed materials provided. You can bring your cake and drinks and let Stone and her crew cater to your artistic needs.

If you are wanting to “Capture moments of today to last a lifetime”, you can check out Eternal Moments Pottery Studio, located at 1318B Curtis Parkway. DeShea and Mickey Young, owners of the studio, have been in business in Calhoun for over seven years and offer Calhoun a “faith-based family environment”. Not only can you paint your own pottery or canvas, you can get custom-made hand/footprint creations to pass from generation to generation. Young offers several weekly classes to choose from, including “Mom and Me Mondays” and “Workshop Wednesdays”. Eternal Moments Pottery Studio also offers guided paint classes for children, “Cookies and Canvas”, and for the moms that need a different kind of “girls night out” can participate in the “Coffee and Canvas” events. Eternal Moments Pottery Studio also offers birthday parties, private parties, team building workshops and more.

Travel parties are available as well, bringing you the supplies to have your entertainment at home. For more information on Sally’s Sew Amazing and her Creative Parties, contact Sally at 706-624-8046 or login to Facebook and “like” Sally’s Sew Amazing for a glimpse of her portfolio.
