“Due to many requests from the people in Calhoun,” according to press release, the Gordon County Tea Party is reorganizing.

The Tea Party dispersed about a year ago to put their focus on “Pray for America,” according to Jan Deems, organizer for the Gordon County Tea Party.

“With the election coming up and everything that is going on we want to educate people, and help them understand the real facts,” said Deems. “ So much of the information consumed is so bias, but we checked out the fact and are trying to educate the public on the truth.”

Two members from the Gordon County Tea Party just returned from a Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference in Washington D.C.

They got to listen to a few speakers including Glenn Beck, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich and several senators. They also heard from Mitt Romney by simulcast and were able to ask him questions, according to press release.

There were two things that were brought up over and over in the conference.

“The first was this election in November is the most critical one America has ever faced. If they do not succeed in voting out the current administration, America, as we know it, will seize to exist,” according to press release. “The second issue was the only thing besides votes is faith. We need to be in prayer, prayer and more prayer.”

The press release also state “The county need needs us now more than ever before, not just for us, but also for the kids and grandkids. We need to be educated in truth and facts, and to consolidate together as one voice.”

The Gordon County Teas party thinks there needs to be a reorganization of elected officials.

According to Deems, “the problem is we’ve elected politicians that wont do their job, so we need to elect and get politicians in that are going to do their job, and pray for the ones that are in there now that are trying too.”

The Tea Party, Deems said, is about “We the people, and not about politicians.”

Initially, the party will have bi-monthly luncheon meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.

The first meeting will be on Thursday, July 12, and these meetings will be held at the Calhoun Shoney’s on Red Bud Road.

Shoney’s has agreed to open their side room at 11:30 am for those who would like to have lunch with us before the meeting. The meeting itself will be from noon-1 p.m.

According to the press release, “Come and join us and let your voice be heard.”

This just proves that there is hate in our little county, like those of us who stop by here didnt already know that. If these people spent half as much time reading the Constitution as they do preaching about it, and invested a little time reading this country's history they would get their head out of whatever mud/manure box it is in and realize that they preach against everything this country stands for. How can people who claim to love the US hate the country so much, the very laws and rules that make us a great country are what these morons will take away from you given the chance. They have people like Beck and Rush to worship and adore while common sense and facts are thrown away and replaced with nonsensical crap from a religious book and they protest when someone from another relgion uses their religious book to enact their laws in their own country. The sad part is these idiots elect fools just like them to congress because something in the water in localized areas causes severe brain function loss. You can't fight them they will pull their ignorance out and beat you to death with it. Just watch the responses to this post if you don't believe me. Luckily I could care less what these brain dead morons think.

karmazon -- you are obviously an Obama lover, so don't worry about their message. You aren't going to agree. You and the liberal hacks continue to count on the government for your "cradle to grave" needs. I will agree not everything on the right is good, but name 1 thing (just one) the liberal left has done since this administration took over that has been good for our Country.

Wow/. Where did you get Obama lover from that? I'ma moderate, actually. I've voted Democrat, republican, and Independent in my lifetime. I agree with them on somethings, but blindly saying that everything Liberal is bad or everything Conservative is bad absolutely ludicrous.

Just one thing? Lifting restrictions on stem cell research.

Also, you can't turn a blind eye to Republicans' stone walling in Congress. They are just as much to blame for the do-nothing Congress as the Liberals. Neither side wanted to budge an inch because of the furor and rancor that has been raised by people like Glenn Beck.

Typical conservative mentality... if you don't like our guy, you MUST like the other guy. Of course that completely ignores the possibility that someone doesn't care for either candidate and is somewhere in the political middle, but seeing the world in just black and white does simplify things I suppose.

I've got a question for the organizers: How can you say that you want to educate the public on the truth when you listen to and idolize people like Glenn Beck? He is one of the worst on either side about twisting truths.

Also, you say that if we do not vote this administration out, America will cease to be the America that we now know. How? If you are going to be a legitimate party to be taken seriously, you must first admit that not everything on the right is good and that not everything on the left is bad. Anything less is just nonsensical.
