Alice Geraldine “Gerry” Harris Suggs McEver, 81, of Calhoun, died Thursday, June 21 in Gordon Hospital.

Gerry was born September 28, 1930 in Catoosa County. Daughter of the late John L. Harris and Myrtle B. Smith Harris. She was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church and in years past was active in the choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Catoosa Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy, Sequoyah Garden Club, and the Calhoun Business and Professional Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Suggs and her second husband, Thomas McEver. Her daughter, Elaine Suggs Worley also precedes her.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Suggs Richardson and her husband John of Calhoun, two sons, Barry Suggs of Tunnel Hill and Joel Suggs of Calhoun, one brother, John Wayne Harris and his wife Barbara of Ringgold, one sister, Juanette Edwards of Calhoun, one sister in law, Mary Suggs of Commerce, and a son in law, David Worley and his wife Glory of Ringgold, nine grandchildren, Heather S. Timms, Lee Thomas Richardson, Heath Richardson, Elaina Richardson, John Micah Richardson, Paul Worley, Jennifer Worley, Liane McClure, and Jacob Suggs, eight great-grandchildren, Miranda Timms, Johnathan Timms, Brittany Worley, Kyle Huskey, Matt Tarpley, Abby McClure, Jesse McClure, and Lane McClure, three honorary daughters, Pam Parker, Jillian Courey, and Dixie Ledford. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate Gerry’s life will be held on Sunday, July 8 at 2:00 pm in the Christian Life Center at Calhoun First Baptist Church.
