If you’re a licensed beauty professional in the Northwest Georgia area, the American Cancer Society needs you! The Society will offer a free Look Good…Feel Better training class for licensed cosmetologists on Monday, July 23 at the Cartersville Medical Center, Classroom 1, 958 Joe Frank Harris SE, #103.

The training will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch and light snacks provided. Look Good…Feel Better provides tips to women who are undergoing cancer treatment to help them improve their appearance. The program is a partnership of the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the National Cosmetology Association. Look Good…Feel Better helps women with a wide range of appearance issues, from tips on applying makeup to choosing a flattering wig to wearing attractive scarves and head wraps.

“Look Good…Feel Better provides women who are going through cancer an opportunity to improve their appearance and boost their self confidence,” says Amanda Torfi, a mission delivery manager for the American Cancer Society. “And cosmetologists who complete Look Good…Feel Better training play an important role in the healing process for women cancer patients. We invite licensed cosmetologists in the area to sign up for the training on July 23 and help provide this much-needed service.”

Look Good…Feel Better programs are held in Bartow, Floyd, Cobb, Paulding, Cherokee, Pickens and Gordon counties. To register for the training, please RSVP by Wednesday, July 18 to Amanda Torfi at amanda.torfi@cancer.org or call (770) 429-0089.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
