Megen Cochran, of Calhoun, had quite a week in Rome at the Southern Boys and Girls 16 Closed Tournament that wrapped up on Friday, which featured some of the top junior tennis players in the Southeast.

Cochran and her partner Caroline Brinson, who were seeded as the No. 1 doubles team going into the tournament, took first place by winning in the finals on Friday in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Cochran also had a great run in the singles tournament as she finished as runner-up, falling to Amy Yang, of Alpharetta, in the finals.

Another local player, McClain Kessler, participated in the Boys tournament and advanced to the third round in the singles tournament and to the second round along with his partner Simon Jayaram in the doubles tournament.
