Pat Long, RN, has been awarded the hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award. Members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee created the award to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis.

It is awarded monthly to a deserving employee selected by the hospital’s directors. Long has been employed by Gordon Hospital for 25 years and serves as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.

“Pat is always going the extra mile to nurture other nurse and help students grow clinically and professionally,” says Jennie Banks, Director of Critical Care Services for Gordon Hospital. “She does all this while maintaining a calm, and pleasant manner no matter how stressful the situation. She is truly an asset to our organization and to our patients.”

Long says she is honored to receive the award.

“It means a lot that my coworkers think that I am deserving of this award,” said Long.

She is a graduate of Chattanooga State University, Long resides in Calhoun with her husband, Alvin, and is the daughter of Parham and Jean Hammontree.

Long has two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Alex Greeson and Niki and Billy Smith. She is the proud grandmother of Victoria, Annabelle, Lance, Lexi, Jake, and Luke.

In her spare time, she enjoys taking vacations, family time and attending church.
