Calhoun High School graduate Parker Davis was awarded North Georgia EMC’s 2011-2012 Howard Baker Memorial Scholarship for Gordon County. Davis, who will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology, He is the son of Russell and Larissa Davis, of Calhoun. He is one of seven Baker Scholarship recipients.

Each year, NGEMC in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, awards the $1,000 scholarship to one senior from each of the seven counties to which it supplies electricity. The scholarship is named after the late Howard Baker who was on the NGEMC board of directors for more than 40 years representing Chattooga County.

NGEMC serves electricity to more than 98,000 customers in a seven-county territory that includes Catoosa, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Walker and Whitfield Counties.
