According to Bartow officials:
The crash occurred at about 3:25 p.m. Thursday as a westbound Ford Mustang was stopped to make a left turn from Ga. 140 into a private drive near Oak Grove.
A blue Ford International spreader truck being driven by Douglas Leon Mathis, 65, from Armuchee, was also westbound and came up on the Mustang too fast to stop without striking it in the rear.
The truck veered to the left and entered the eastbound lane in front of a Mack dump truck. The Mack truck hit the International in the passenger side.
Mathis was fatally injured in the collision.
The driver of the dump truck, Larry James Dixon, 50, from Ranger, was taken to Cartersville Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
