Ms. Wyolene Holder Townsend, 88, of Fairmount, Ga., departed this life Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Wyolene was born March 27, 1924 in Cherokee County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Ethel Holder.

Wyolene was also preceded in death by her brother, Dillard Holder, husband, Otis “Ode” Townsend, daughter, Lavern Townsend, grandson, Cayce Woodward, granddaughter, Annette Townsend, great-granddaughter, Jessica Woodward and son in laws, Al Kittle and Gene Woodward.

Wyolene is survived by sons, Wayne Townsend and Randall Townsend of Fairmount, GA; daughters, Patsy Woodward of Fairmount, GA, Arlene Kittle of Ranger, GA, and Elaine T. and Burney Ivey of Lawrenceville, GA; sisters, Polly Ray of Conyers, GA, Ella Mae Lee of Fairburn, GA, Eva Mae Parker of Langston, TX, and Burma Rush of Fayetteville, GA; brother, Doyle Holder of Cartersville, GA; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, ten great–great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. Wyolene was retired from Lacey Mills, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Salacoa Baptist Church.

Services to celebrate the life of Wyolene Holder Townsend were held Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Salacoa Baptist Church of Cherokee County, with Reverend Hoyt Jones officiating. She was laid to rest in the church cemetery. Music was provided by Sally Jones. Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Rush, Shawn Kittle, Jason Ivey, Jonathan Woodward, Kirk Townsend, Bailey Townsend, and Dane Kittle.

The family received friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel on Monday June 4, 2012 from 5-9 p.m.
