A group of nine people from the Meadowdale Baptist Church in Calhoun, Ga., traveled to Malawi, Africa in April to do evangelism and church planting. The team worked with Southern Baptist Missionaries Ross and Sherry Collier and a group of Malawian Church Planters, pastors, and evangelists.

The team members spoke in villages, schools, and compounds, and the Jesus film was shown each night in the locations where new churches were to be planted. The African team prepared the targeted area before the American team arrived, they had pastors in place to lead the new churches, and they provided follow up after the Meadowdale Team left.

The African team recorded over 17,000 new believers in Christ and new churches were started in four different areas outside of the capitol city Lilongwe. This was the second year of a three partnership between Meadowdale and the Lilongwe Baptist Association. Dr. Steven F. Pearson is the pastor of Meadowdale Baptist Church and has participated in 37 overseas missions. Meadowdale sends many people out on mission each year.
