In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Muehling will be an elementary school physical education teacher.
Muehling graduated from Tusculum College, where he played football, on May 5 and moved to Valdosta on May 10.
During his college career for the Tusculum Pioneers, he was credited with 130 tackles (11 for a loss), four sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries, one resulting in a 60-yard touchdown return).
Muehling also excelled in the weight room at Tusculum, leading the team in squat (585 pounds) and power clean (390) in 2011. In 2010, Jason was named SAC Defensive Player of the Week, and was named a Super Pioneer in 2011 and 2009 and a Pioneer Elite in 2009.
Muehling played defensive end during his time at Calhoun for coach Hal Lamb.
Muehling is the son of Sue and Phil Whittaker, of Ranger, and Amy and Paul Muehling of Clearwater, Fla.
