Three members of the 2012 Reinhardt University softball team were recently honored with postseason awards from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Reinhardt’s Maddie Monroe, a former Calhoun High standout, and Nikki Roddy were at-large selections to the NFCA NAIA All-East Region First Team while Andrea Thibaudeau was chosen to the second team as an outfielder.

Monroe, a 5-foot-8 junior pitcher from Calhoun, earned on spot on the All-East Region Second Team last year as an at-large pick. In 2012, the three-time Appalachian Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year made 32 appearances with 28 starts, posting a 22-8 record with 27 complete games, 17 shutouts and 1.09 ERA. In 193 innings of work, she struck out 214 and walked 34 with opponents batting just .172 against her. Monroe led the AAC in ERA, opponents’ batting average and strikeouts. Nationally in the NAIA, she finished 11th in ERA, 11th in opponents’ batting average and 13th in strikeouts.

A 5-foot-5 senior utility player out of Woodstock, Roddy transferred to the Lady Eagles before the 2011 season and received First Team All-AAC accolades the last two years. This past season, she started all 48 games, topping the squad in batting average (.412), hits (61), doubles (20), home runs (four), total bases (97) and slugging percentage (.655). Roddy paced the conference in doubles and total bases while ranking second in hits, second in slugging percentage, third in batting average and fourth in runs scored (39). On the national level, she was tied for 10th in doubles.

Thibaudeau, a 5-foot-11 senior from Cartersville, garnered All-East Region Second Team recognition as a junior. A three-time All-AAC performer, she started all 156 games the past four seasons. In 2012, Thibaudeau led the team in triples (six), RBIs (35), walks (17) and stolen bases (18) while hitting .348 with three home runs, 10 doubles, 28 runs scored, 78 total bases, a .578 slugging percentage and .421 on-base percentage. In the conference, she ranked second in triples, tied for second in RBIs and third in stolen bases.

Reinhardt claimed a share of the 2012 AAC regular season championship with a 14-4 record after winning it outright the previous two campaigns. The Lady Eagles captured the AAC Tournament crown for the second straight year and made a second consecutive trip to the NAIA national tournament, where they went 2-1 and fell just short of an Elite Eight berth. Reinhardt concluded this past season at 36-12 overall and ranked 18th in the NAIA Softball Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll.
