She was a resident at the Terraces of Riverstone Assisted Living where she enjoyed many church activities, bingo, and word find games.
She was born, August 19, 1919 to the late E.M. & Lena Penfield and lived most of her life in Adairsville, GA.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Sheryl & Delano Colston of Jasper, Ga., and Charlotte & Tommy Turner of Williamsburg, Va., and three grandsons, Jon Colston of Las Vegas, Nev, Ian Turner of Williamsburg, Va., and Andy Carver of Adairsville, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Elrod and a daughter, Linda Carver. Mrs. Elrod was also preceded in death by her sisters: Doris Barker, Marion Smith, Jean Stewart and Mable Penfield and two brothers: William Penfield and Earl Penfield.
Arrangements are being handled by Barton Funeral Home in Adairsville where the family received friends from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 19th, 2012 with the funeral service starting immediately after in the Barton Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Danny Pelfrey officiating.
Interment was at Eastview Cemetery in Adairsville, GA. Pallbearers included Billy Smith, William
Smith, Bobby Stewart, John Dee Hooker, Austin Stephens, Sonny Scott, and Jimmy Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 680, Adairsville, GA, 30103. R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of arrangements.
