Calhoun Primary Pre–K had a balloon release to support Calhoun City Schools Relay for Life team.

Children were given the opportunity to donate to the American Cancer Society by doing a mock relay, walkeing around the school, ending on the front grassy area.

All students released a balloon to show support for the American Cancer Society and finding a cure. The balloon had a tag to encourage others to donate to their local Relay for Life. team.

And we don’t throw rice at weddings anymore in deference to the birds. Maybe that’s why our birthrates are down.

Now now, birthrates have nothing to do with thrown rice or birds - the fault lies with Michael Bay movies.

You had to go there didn’t you? The mental image of Donny Osmond gorging on rice until his craw explodes will be difficult to purge.

Now take THAT mental image and insert some textbook J.J. Abrams lens flare. Shiny.

Careful, as it is rumored an Abram’s lens flare has the power to render one’s argument invalid. Furthermore, what if: whilst Taking Care of Business Regarding Henry, who appears Forever Young as The Pallbearer, had Gone Fishing in The Suburbans during Armageddon, ended up on a Joy Ride with yet a third {sigh} Mission Impossible at the Cloverfield? And wouldn’t it be just Super if the birds Ate non-biodegradable balloons to replace their damaged rice filled craws? There’s more but I’m being sternly instructed to cease and desist!

Negative there my fav-blue-deity. The One who must be obeyed has spoken and I’ve seen that look before! You know the drill; hands on your head and back away from the truck.......slowly!

Hmm, pretty sure Neo has nothing to do with this. Time to stop the bullets mid-flight!

Ahhh, the sound of inevitability....there is no spoon....almost certainly biodegradable. Cheers!

Balloon releases are harmful to the environment, to wildlife and to domestic animals, as I outline in this article:

http://birdguides.com/webzine/article.asp?a=1490

Perhaps the suppliers claimed that the balloons are biodegradable - but, as my article shows, even biodegradable balloons can last - and do harm - for a year or more.
