Dorothy was born on June 29, 1915 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Alonzo Tallent and Sallie Elizabeth Cavendar Tallent. Dorothy was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, but was active in the Belmont Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery and Girl’s Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; her husband Orion Asberry “Hoss” Bearden, son-in-law John Christian, daughter- in law Sandra Owens Bearden, grandson Billy Bearden, Jr., two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include; Two sons; Billy Bearden and his wife Bobbie of Calhoun and Tony Bearden and his wife Lonnie of Calhoun. Three daughters; Charlotte Christian, Dianne Kirby and her husband Charlie, and Kathy Cleveland and her husband Greg all of Calhoun. One sister, Bonnie T. Reeves of St. Augustine, FL. Twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 from the Chapel of Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Crawford Greeson and Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Burial followed in Chandler Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving included; Chuck Kirby, David Christian, Mike Christian, Bob Christian, Tyler Grant, and Alex Kirby.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the funeral home.
