Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church is having a garage sale to raise money for mission and evangelism. Clothes, shoes (lots of 10 narrow), housewares, cookbooks, frames, and more. Gigantic Yard Sale: Friday, May 4-5 from 8 a.m. Until…..at 5730 Fairmount Hwy (Hwy 53) in the Living Water Church Parking lot. Tons of really cool stuff really cheap. Tables of adult and kid’s clothing $1 each. Pro-ceeds will help to restock the pantry shelves of First Fruits Ministry Food Warehouse, which serves the residents of Gordon County who are in need. A benefit will be held for cancer survivor Aaron Maddox at Sugar Valley Community Club on May 5, begin-ning at 9 a.m. There will be a yard sale, inflatables, lunch will be served at 12 p.m., a cake walk, dinner and more.
Gordon County 4-H will hold its Rabies Clinic on Saturday, May 5. For a cost of $10 per cat or dog, Doctors Jay and Betsy Hendley will give rabies shots and offer other vaccinations. Times and locations are as follows: W.L. Swain School 8-9:30 a.m., Oostanaula Church 9:45-10:45 a.m., Old Sugar Valley School 11 a.m.- 12 p.m., Resaca Fire Station 1:15 –2:30 p.m., Nickelsville Fire Station 2:45-3:45 p.m.
Fran Stewart will host a Mystery Writer's Workshop on Saturday, May 5 from 2 until 5:30 p.m. The cost is $40 and there will be a free book signing from 10 a.m. until noon.
