The third annual Fairmount United Memorial Day Festival will be Monday, May 28 beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting till 3 p.m. at Tate Park.

The cost is $5 per child to receive an event bracelet to participate in the following event throughout the day: inflatables, horse and wagon rides, tractor rides, small fire truck rides, baseball toss, monster ball toss, balloon darts, ring toss, octopus ring toss, milk bottle ball throw, bean bag toss, duck pong, face painting and wash-off tattoos.

During the children’s events, adults will have the opportunity to see an open antique car show hosted by Classic American Rides. Cars, trucks and tractors may compete in the show, and a winner will be announced at 2 p.m.

The Fairmount United 5K run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. and will make its way through downtown Fairmount.

Local craft vendors will be set up in Tate park, as well as homemade baked goods, hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue and funnel cakes. Music will be provided by DJ Roberts. Around 1:30 p.m. WWII Veteran Alton Cadenhead will offer a tribute to the veterans throughout Gordon County.

All proceeds from the event will go to United Way of Gordon County to support the 19 United Way agencies in Gordon County.
