The Clarence Brown Conference Center is hosting the Singing Cookes in honor of their 50 years singing Gospel music. They started in 1962 as a husband and wife duet with two Hummingbird guitars in the coal mining town of Wise, Virginia. Each of their three sons joined the group at the age of 14 and as a family they went into the gospel music business full time. In the beginning, The Singing Cookes sang regionally in church services and revivals. In the mid 1970's they recorded a song "He Rows Me Over The Tide" which brought them to the attention of gospel music fans nationwide. This recognition brought The Singing Cookes to Georgia and they've enjoyed performing and ministering in this area for nearly 30 years. The concert will be held on April 27th at the Clarence Brown Conference Center. The singing starts at 7 and the doors will open at 5. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance with a credit card by calling 706-252-1048 or 770-630-3810. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $10.
