LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a woman is expected to recover after leaping from her car seconds before it crashed into a power pole and burst into flames, knocking out power to part of an Atlanta suburb.

Fire officials say the 27-year-old woman managed to jump from the car before it struck the power pole on Georgia Highway 20 in Lawrenceville on Wednesday. The pole broke off at the base and landed on the car, catching it on fire.

Gwinnett County Fire Lt. Eric Eberly tells The Gwinnett Daily Post that the woman was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, but her injuries were believed to be minor.

Authorities say power service was lost to the immediate area for several hours.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
