Reinhardt University’s Maddie Monroe was named the Appalachian Athletic Pitcher of the Week for her play from April 9-15.

It marks the ninth time in her career that Monroe has earned the weekly conference honor, including four times this season.

A 5-foot-8 junior pitcher out of Calhoun, Ga., Monroe made four appearances last week and went 3-1 with a 0.00 ERA.

In her three starts, she pitched three complete-game shutouts, including a five-inning perfect game and seven-inning one-hitter. In 20 2/3 innings, Monroe struck out 27 and walked five as opponents batted just .092 (6-for-65) against her.

Monroe leads Reinhardt in almost every statistical pitching category, including appearances (23), innings pitched (140 2/3), starts (20), complete games (19), wins (16), shutouts (12), ERA (1.05), strikeouts (159) and opponents’ batting average (.179). She has a 16-6 record and has walked just 24.

Monroe tops the conference in ERA, opponents’ batting average and strikeouts per game (10.17). She ranks second in wins, second in strikeouts and fourth in innings pitched. On the national level, she is tied for 10th in ERA, 12th in strikeouts, tied for 16th in wins, tied for 23rd in opponents’ batting average, 26th in innings pitched and 33rd in strikeouts per game.

The Lady Eagles, who are ranked 22nd nationally in the NAIA, have a 30-9 overall record and are 14-2 in the AAC.
