What started as a traffic stop on a man who was wearing an illegal helmet ended with the man’s arrest on trafficking in methamphetamine, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

A Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop the motorcycle on Highway 411 near the Floyd and Bartow County lines, driven by Gerald Glenn Taylor Jr., 35, of 24 McGhee St. S.W.

As he fled from the trooper, Taylor threw out a container with more than 28 grams of methamphetamine.

The drugs were recovered by the K-9 Gibbs within 100 yards of a church.

Taylor is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, abandonment of drugs, a helmet violation, driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and failure to signal a turn and driving on the wrong side of the road.
