  • Heritage Baptist Church in Calhoun will be hosting an Easter celebration Saturday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free food, face painting and blow-up slides. There will also be Easter egg hunts.

  • Mount Zion Baptist Church Couples Class will be selling BBQ plates for $5 (with BBQ, with or without the bun, chips and beans). The church will also have water for sell, on Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. until supplies run out at the Old Fire Hall in Resaca on Battlefield Pkwy NE, Resaca (next to Blackstock Radiator Shop). There will also be some yard sale items there with a portion of that money being donated to the church as well. Come out and help the church and enjoy some great food also. Hope to see you there.

  • The Harris Arts Center will be hosting the NW Georgia Valley Writer’s Conference March 31, 9 a.m. – 6:45 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Barbara Casey who wrote “How to Get your Manuscript Read by a Publisher.” It will be a day-long event featuring workshops, panel discussions and book signings.   • Learn how the Cherokees used plants in their daily lives, including how plants were gath-ered for healing purposes. Many of the old ways of using plants for curing illnesses were passed on to the white settlers by the Cherokees. Many are still used today. The Cherokees believed that each tree, shrub, and herb, even down to the grasses and mosses were all put here to heal different diseases. Admission: adults-$5, senior citizens-$3 and students- $2.   • The Fairmount City Library is holding a free adult computer class "Discovering Com-puters." The class started Saturday, Feb. 4, from 12:30 - 2:30 and continue each Saturday thereafter at the same time. Please stop by the Fairmount City Library to sign up.
