Monroe, a 5-foot-8 junior pitcher made two appearances last week, posting a pair of wins as Reinhardt went 4-0, outscoring its opponents 22-0. In her two complete-game shutouts, Monroe gave up just two hits with 10 strikeouts over 12 innings as the opposition batted only .053 against her. In the Lady Eagles’ 8-0 five-inning victory over Truett-McConnell College, she tossed a no-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks, allowing just one player reach base (on a hit-by-pitch).
On the season, Monroe has pitched in 13 contests with 11 starts and 11 complete games. She has an 8-4 record and 1.63 ERA with 72 strikeouts and 15 walks in 81 2/3 innings.
Within the AAC, Monroe ranks first in strikeouts per game (7.93), tied for first in wins, tied for first in strikeouts, second in innings pitched, second in opponents’ batting average (.217) and third in ERA. Nationally in the NAIA, she is seventh in innings pitched, tied for eighth in strikeouts and tied for 14th in wins.
Reinhardt is ranked No. 19 nationally in the NAIA and has a 14-7 overall record. The Lady Eagles host an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Bluefield College Lady Rams today. The first contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Ken White Softball Field.
Monroe was named Rome News-Tribune Player of the Year after her senior campaign at Calhoun.
