The Dancing with the Stars fundraiser was recently presented with a $2.500 grant from the Fund for Calhoun-Gordon.

The event, which will be held March 17 at the historic GEM Theatre in downtown Calhoun, will showcase the dancing talent of eight local couples. Proceeds from Dancing with the Stars will be shared evenly by the United Way of Gordon County and the Friends of the GEM Theatre.

United Way Director Vickie Spence noted that, “Interest in this event has been amazing, with the initial group of tickets selling out in a manner of hours.”

Additional tickets are still available at the GEM box office for the March 16 dress rehearsals, she said. “I think people are excited about this event because the Dancing with the Stars television show has reached so many of us. People are interested in some wholesome entertainment, support of a couple of important charitable causes and a genuine curiosity to see our dancers.”

The Fund for Calhoun-Gordon is a charitable fund of the Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia. Grants originating from the Fund for Calhoun-Gordon are made possible by distributions from the Calhoun-Gordon Permanent Endowment Fund.
