Tuesday, March 6, marks the day of reckoning for the community to put their seal of approval (or disapproval) on Sunday alcohol sales once and for all.

In a previous Calhoun Times article it noted the questions asked on the ballot:
- Shall the governing authority of Gordon County/ City of Calhoun be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink?
- Shall the governing authority of Gordon County/ City of Calhoun be authorize to permit and regulate package sales by retailers of both malt beverages and wine on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.?
- Shall the governing authority of Gordon County/ City of Calhoun be authorized to issue licenses to sell distilled spirits for beverage purposes by the drink, such sales to be for consumption only on the premises?
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for those who did not take advantage of early voting.
“We expect about 30 percent to show up,” said Gordon County Board of Elections Chairperson Shea Hicks. “We have had 617 people to vote as of Wednesday.”
Hicks also advises residents of voting precinct changes.
The following precincts have moved locations:
1063 Pine Chapel has moved to the Coosawattee Masonic Lodge located at 633 West Pine Chapel Church Rd, Calhoun, Ga., and 1064 Oostanaula has moved to the Oostanaula Community Club located at 1592 Oostanaula Bend Rd, Calhoun, Ga.
Also on the ballot will be the GOP presidential primary candidates.
Each voter will be allowed to pick one presidential candidate, according to the Voter Registration Office.
Voters should be properly prepared on Tuesday with the correct documentation. All voters are required to show one of the following forms of photo identification: Georgia driver’s license; valid ID card issued by any state or U.S. agency with photo; valid U.S. passport; valid government employee photo ID; valid U.S. military ID card with photo; valid tribal ID card with photo.
