Fairmount City Library’s February story time will be held Feb. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This month’s story will be “The Critter Sitter,” by Chuck Richards. Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home invites you to "Love Ballads from Long Ago." Get ready for Valentine's Day by hearing some old time love songs performed by Lynn West Baines and Phil Helton. One night only, Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. Adults-$4; children under 12- $2. Chieftains members-free.
Chieftains Museum announces a Basket Weaving workshop to be held on Feb. 11. You will learn how to make a Traditional Appalachian Ribbed Melon Basket. This basket is the be-ginning basket for making the traditional egg baskets. This class is for the experienced or beginner and will be taught by Tisa Barton. The workshop will begin at 10 a.m.. Tater's BBQ will host an outdoor gospel singing Saturday, Feb. 11. Singers will be Ernest and the Sunlighters, Traveling by Faith, Gift of Life, The Randolph Family, Rita Hall, Heart Harmony, Andy Ladell, New Creation and others. The Oostanaula Community Club will serve a special Valentine’s dinner Saturday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. The meal will include chopped steak, or fried chicken tenders, baked potatoes, salad, drink and dessert for $5. There will also be music and a cakewalk. Proceeds will help pay the club’s bills and keep it up and running to help those who need it.
